Aigua
per al SAHEL
Organització No Guvernamental
per al Desenvolupament
The Sahel is a large region in Africa, characterized
by barrenness and suffocating heat, that marks the transition between
the tropics and the Sahara desert.
Aigua per al Sahel (‘Water for the Sahel’), an NGO that
was founded in 1991, relies on unpaid, voluntary work and does not
incur in any administrative expenses. Therefore, nearly 100% of
the funds raised are channelled directly to Burkina Faso, in the
Sahel Region
We finance cooperatives and rural associations that carry out diverse
hydraulic projects that they have themselves designed.
We believe that the local populations must be involved in the construction,
maintenance and management of the wells.
We organize activities throughout Catalonia in order to make people
aware of what daily life is like in the Sahel. We feel that solidarity
consists in walking together, in learning from the people with whom
we cooperate.
More on Burkina
Faso, the country where Aigua per al Sahel carries out its projects.
