The Human Rights Programme of the School for a Culture of Peace of Barcelona Autonomous University monitors the international human rights situation, and highlights the issues on the international agenda, such as transitional justice.

Areas of analysis

• Analysis and monitoring of transitional justice mechanisms which aim to strike a balance between peace and the need for justice to be done for human rights abuses perpetrated during a conflict or by a non democratic regime.
• Analysis and monitoring of the international human rights situation based on monitoring of more than 30 information sources which include both intergovernmental bodies and NGOs and the use of specific indicators. Monitoring takes place by means of participation in the publications produced by the  Programme on Conflict and Peacebuilding (Semáforo, Barómetro and Alerta).

• Business and human rights. The Human Rights Programme monitors this issue at national and international level, with a special emphasis on the extracting industry.


Publications

• Transitional Justice Bulletin. This bulletin compiles up to date news on processes States have engaged in after an armed conflict in order to deal with past abuses and initiate a peacebuiding strategy.
• Human Rights in the Barómetro. This quarterly bulletin compiles the human rights and transitional justice events that take place every three months and includes an analysis of a particularly relevant theme subject.
• Semáforo de Derechos Humanos. This monthly bulletin in Spanish is a compilation of all human rights news published in the Semáforo bulletin produced by the Conflict and Peacebuilding Programme. See archive for past issues
